The Power Of Health & Communication

Visuals are a crucial aspect in our social climate, especially during the state of our world. Since the pandemic globally shifted everyone’s lives, social media and the usage of online resources has solidified its grip on our society. The dissemination of news, doings of the government, and social change is documented and distributed on social media. Our phones and technology are a sort of currency in our social world, we have begun to depend on these devices and the internet to help, educate, and inform the public. The last two years within the confines of a global pandemic has led the public to depend on the internet, trapped within their homes to receive information about COVID-19, vaccines, and health updates. It’s been important to use necessary imagery, especially in the beginning stages of COVID-19 to depict the danger of the disease and its variants By communicating shocking images of death, packed hospitals, and heartbreaking scenes, we were able to relay the seriousness of the situation, necessary precautions, and inform the public on any new developments.

The use of imagery and photographs were crucial aspects of relaying life and death information was an important part of our COVID-19 experience. We were able to learn about the state of health in the country and when the time came to it, receive hope from images depicting vaccinations and the lifting of lockdowns. However, the early stages of the pandemic held images that will forever shape that horrifying time and live on in our memories.

I like that you included the COVID protest. While I was writing this blog I realized that there were many political movements that were also influenced by visuals during the pandemic. George Floyd protests were only able to happen through emotional appeal of visuals. There were many other protests that occurred unexpectedly that probably wouldn't have been as widely acknowledged pre- pandemic.

A strong, meaningful post. The use of visuals enhanced the point that the post was trying to express as well as providing more in depth material for the audience to understand. Nice Job!

What a powerful post! It shames to me say that I've gotten so used to this pandemic that I almost forgot about the horrors that struck us when this whole situation started. Obviously there are still many deaths now and people are still suffering, but I feel like the many images at the start of the pandemic were what really drove home the severity of everything. That was also when posters and other things like that on health were especially pushed toward the public, helping us realize that COVID-19 isn't just "another flu." The images you used in your post are really heart-wrenching and I really appreciate you shining light on them. And as you said, the visuals we've all…
